I’m pleased to report that in their first friendly match FC Lingue finished with a 6-0 win over UISP Trasanni’s reserve team.  In fact, many of their top players also play for Lingue, so it was truly a win-win situation.

We have many solid players and some very strong ones this year, so with a bit of time and a lot of work, we’re confident that we can field a good team for the torneo interfacoltà this spring.  The team demonstrated an early spirit of cooperation and coordination that will pay off in the future.  The captain, trainer and I are quite happy with the early results.  We still have quite a few players to try out, and to bring back in from Erasmus and other external commitments, but by May we should have the right team on the filed.

Thank you very much to UISP Trasanni for the opportunity to try out our new team.  We really enjoyed the experience and hope to play you again in the future!

FC LINGUE SEMPRE AVANTI!!!!

Friendly match

Good evening everyone! I’d just like to announce that FC Lingue will play its first friendly match of the academic year tomorrow evening (Thursday evening, Dec. 3 2009) at 8:00 pm at the football pitch next to the school in Trasanni.  We don’t have all of our players, since some already have other matches and practices they can’t get out of, but we do have a core group that are coming out to REPRESENT!!!! We’re going to get the ball rolling and get to know each other as FCLingue 2010. A new year and new hopes for a tournament final in May.  Come on down to the pitch in Trasanni at 20:00 on Dec. 3 2009 to watch this first match. It should be fun.

CLB!!!!! See you there!

Pete Cullen – manager

Orges Delaj – captain

Good morning y’all! It’s about time we met up to discuss overall organisation for next springs Torneo interfacoltà. Anybody interested in joining FCLingue’s team CLB, please write to me at peter.cullen@uniurb.it. We should meet over the next few weeks to discuss general business and get people registered at the CUS. The more time we have to organise ourselves, the better our results will be in the spring (and the more fun we’ll have!) CLB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I see we’ve got our first international participant in this blog – Mr. Greg Feibus of Villanova University! Welcome back Greg! We sure miss you in Urbino! I’ve got 41 Villanova students in Florence now – almost all of whom saw Fiorentina LOSE to Paris-St. Germain last Wednesday. Not even in the friendlies? What really is happening to the great Italian football machine? Were the scandals of a few years ago really that damaging? Are we seeing the best football played in the B and C series?

Hey Greg, if you’ve got people over their who might be interested in playing football with us in the spring semester – send them over! Don’t look now – but FCLINGUE is a FUN football team that risks doing very well next season.

GENTLEMEN AND LADIES – SEMPRE AVANTI COME LE BESTIE!!!!

Training schedule!

So – what are you all doing for off-season training? Heh heh heh! Do any of you follow the British leagues? What’s happening up there in the land of fog and rain? Are there any links I’ve left off this blog that you’d like to see on it? Questions, questions – any answers?

If anybody’s interested, we could try to organise a match this July with the American students. I don’t know if they play or not – but we’ll see.

As well, the season poster is ready. You should be able to download it from the post below this one, or see it in the faculty. Very cool. Thanks to all who contributed photos and to artistic coordinator Orges Delaj! Thanks to Poliedro for the print job!

All the best to everybody – CLB!!!

Ragazzi… CLB

Italy v Egypt

Ok – first, hat’s off to our friends and neighbours (almost) in Egypt for last night’s victory. Good job. I have a question, however. Since I didn’t see more than 5 minutes of the game – WHAT HAPPENED?  Has Italian national football suffered this year for some reason? Were the lights in the stadium too bright? Somebody explain this to me please! use the comment function “add a comment” at the bottom of this post!

Better luck next time!

Football links

Dear Everybody,

as you can see, I’ve begun the long process of adding links to the “blog roll” – that’s the list at the right hand side of the page that contains links to other sites.  It is a very useful little tool to keep us connected with the English-speaking football world! PLEASE send me other links that you’d like to see up here!!! They don’t have to be English language links, but for the purposes of our communication, maybe it’s better. Many national leagues have sites or independent news sites in English anyway.

Have fun! CLB

SEMPRE AVANTI CLB!!!

Good morning everyone and welcome to FC Lingue’s blog! In coordination with the Captain of the 2009 team, Orges Delaj, we decided to start up this blog to bring you news and generate interest in FC Lingue’s exploits! This blog will be conducted entirely in English, although links to football sites and other sports-related sites may be in different languages. This blog will work better the more YOU, the players, students and professors participate in it! DO send my your suggestions, links to football or other general sports related sites or points of interest. Send me you photos and pieces of information regarding FC Lingue’s players and performance! We’re off to a great start this year – YOU can help KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM!!!

All the best – CLB

Pete Cullen and Orges Delaj
